Matters
The whole matter, in one place.
A matter holds its documents, its tasks, its deadlines and its drafts together, and Sage works inside it. What a colleague needs to pick it up is in the matter, not in somebody's inbox.
Everything the matter needs, inside the matter
Documents, tasks, deadlines and drafts sit with the file they belong to, and Sage works inside it.
What a matter holds
The documents
Everything filed to the matter, with its versions and where each one came from.
The deadlines
Each one with the event that triggered it and the rule behind it, confirmed by a lawyer.
The tasks
Who is doing what next, and what is waiting on somebody else.
The drafts
Work in progress in the firm's template, beside the sources it was built from.
The client
Which client the matter belongs to, and what else is open for them.
The activity
What was done, by whom and when, recorded as the work happens.
Step by step
A reinstatement claim arrives, and the file has to exist by the end of the day.
- 01
The matter is opened
Client, subject and the people on it. Everything that follows attaches here.
- 02
Documents land in the right place
What arrives is filed to the matter and read, so a question about it can be answered the same day.
- 03
Deadlines are proposed
Sage reads the trigger out of the document and proposes the date with the rule it rests on.
- 04
A lawyer confirms the dates
High-risk deadlines always come to a person. Routine, well-defined rules can confirm on their own where the firm allows it.
- 05
The team works in one file
Drafts, tasks and notes stay with the matter, so handing it over is opening it rather than explaining it.
The questions people ask
How it works, what it touches, and where it stops. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
Does it replace our existing filing?
It sits over the documents and systems you already run and reads from them. Firms usually keep their filing where it is and let the matter be the place the work happens.
Does it track deadlines on its own?
Sage proposes a deadline and shows the trigger and the rule behind it. A lawyer confirms it. Your firm can let routine, well-defined rules confirm automatically, and high-risk deadlines always go to a lawyer.
Does it connect to UYAP and UETS?
Not as a live integration. We are developing a browser connector that works after a lawyer signs in, and will offer it once the permitted route and its limits are confirmed. Deadlines and conflicts are tracked from the documents and records your firm already holds.
Can two lawyers work on the same matter?
Yes. The matter holds the work rather than one person's desk, and the platform records who did what.
What happens when a matter closes?
It stays readable and searchable, so the next question like it starts from what the firm already did.
